ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. The "Caraiman 1" action

In February 1997 the leadership of the "Caraiman" Children’s Hospital from Bucharest, which was in a dramatic situation, has contacted us:
The leadership of the hospital, endowed with 50 nutritional retrieve beds, with an abandoned children section (social cases), the kids living in this hospital until their taken into orphanages and special institution, and with another 25 beds section, where the children with haematic and oncological affections, especially leukaemia, are hospitalised, informed us that they are lacking a lot of things [even those strict necessary, like food for children (mashed potatoes, instant soups, sugar, rice, milk powder), new-born child underwear, Pampers swaddling, clothes, a.s.o.], therefore being in a very delicate situation and they asked us for our help.
In March and April 1997 we have contacted 13 foundations and humanitarian and charitable associations from France and Luxembourg. One of these, The AMROLUX A.s.b.l. Organisation (Amitié Roumanie-Luxembourg) of the Great Dukedom of Luxembourg, represented by Mr. Claude THILGES, the President of the Board of Directors promised to help us.
           Which they did.
On the 26th of January 1998, a 13 persons delegation came from Luxembourg by a whole caravan consisting of a car, two minibuses and a pickup truck loaded with 46 parcels, containing drugs, clothes for the children, toys, Pampers swaddling clothes, milk powder, fruits, sweets and other food.
Guided by the delegates of the "Samaritan" Humanitarian Foundation, the AMROLUX representatives went to the "Caraiman" Hospital for Children where they donated the collected relieves for the children of Romania.
           Impressive!
But, more interesting than this, the delegates from Luxembourg were never before at the "Caraiman" Hospital.
Seeing the dramatic situation the leadership of the hospital was struggling in and the special cases of the children, they have taken pictures in order to show them to their relatives in Luxembourg, neighbours, friends and fellows countrymen to impress them in order to collect new relieves. We’ve been surprised when we saw … tears in their eyes!
